bombs killed over 40 people and wounded over 250 people in Iraq today

is this a fucking joke? do you really think now is the time for this?

^^^ They have a really good point though. Bombings (or explosions, rather) of this size or greater happen all the time in the Middle East & Pakistan and hardly get media coverage. A bombing in Boston: the entire world knows in seconds. A bombing in Damascus: we never hear of it. I find it kind of ignorant that one would think it’s more important to concentrate on something that happens here in the states but refuses to care about what is happening around the world.

Your wording is … well, ignorant. I wouldn’t say I “refuse to care” about what happens in the rest of the world. I do care. I just find it hard to relate to. As for media coverage: you answered that yourself. “Bombings … of this size or greater happen all the time in the Middle East & Pakistan…”, yes, and they are rare in the US. Which is why they get more media coverage. It isn’t like the world is turning a blind eye to what is happening in the rest of the world. You choose who and what you are compassionate about. So, why is it so wrong to care about your own country?

I don’t recall saying it was wrong to care about your country. Is it wrong for an American to care about someone else who happens not to be American? I also don’t understand how anything could be hard to relate to. An eight year old that I do not know dying in america is the same as an eight year old I do not know dying in the middle east. Are you saying that just because it happens all the time, it shouldn’t get media coverage?

No, that isn’t what I’m saying. I’m not saying it’s wrong to care about someone who isn’t American. If you watch the news on a regular basis you will see that they cover what’s going on in the Middle East, as well as Europe, South America, and every other country in the world. Those issues simply don’t get as much coverage on a day where there is a terrorist attack in one of the biggest cities in the United States. That’s the way the media works. Shit happens everyday in the United States that doesn’t get covered because of occurrences in other countries. Maybe your personal agenda is not the same as mine and that’s fine. But that doesn’t give you the authority to tell me I refuse to care about issues outside of the United States of America. Nothing is stopping you from caring about what you feel is important.

For your information, I watch the news several times a day. I know first hand that the news does not accurately broadcast what goes on in the Middle East, as well as other countries. And once again, I never said YOU didn’t care, I said ONE. O-N-E. Meaning ignorant people around the world who choose not to care until something happens in their own backyard. Get off your high horse because the world does not revolve around you.

You watch the news? Cool, so do I. As do many people. Whether or not you watch the news doesn’t define who you are as a person. You seem to be trying to prove yourself to me, which I don’t really understand? Never did I suggest that the world revolves around me. Maybe you should get off your “high horse” and stop trying to be so hyper-politically correct. Debate over.

THERE ARE BOMBS IN COLOMBIA EVERY SINGLE WEEK, AND NO ONE GIVES A FUCK.
WE ARE USED TO OUR PEOPLE DYING IN BOMBS AND ATTACKS FOR NARCOTRAFFIC AND THE FARC AND NO ONE MAKES PRETTY PICTURES OF SUPPORT FOR US.
T-O-D-A-Y THE WHOLE COUNTRY OF VENEZUELA IS MARCHING FOR THEIR FUTURE, RIGHT NOW. AGAINST A FUTURE DICATORSHIP AND THE FRAUDULENT ELECTIONS RESULTS. THE VENEZUELANS IN COLOMBIA, THE USA AND OTHER COUNTRIES WHO LEFT THEIR LOVED COUNTRY BECAUSE OF HUGO CAHVEZ, THEY WANT TO GO BACK. THEY DESERVE A RECOUNT, BUT THE PRESIDENT TOOK OFFICE TODAY, WHEN THE ELECTIONS WERE JUST YESTERDAY, NORMALLY THAT TAKES A LONG TIME, I NEVER SAW THAT BEFORE. THE NEW PRESIDENT WILL NOT LET A RECOUNT TO HAPPEN BECAUSE THIS IS AN ELECTORAL FRAUD. THEY DESERVE RESPECT, AND NO MORE HUMILLIATION AND BE FREE.
TODAY I JUST REALIZED HOW PEOPLE MINDS ARE MANAGED MY THE MEDIA, PEOPLE DONT CARE ABOUT ANYTHING THAT THE NEWS DONT TELL THEM.
